The View Click Overlay
report shows where subscribers interacted with your message in a visual "heat map" display. This report gives you the opportunity to look at each of your sent messages with information showing where subscribers clicked. We do this by displaying the contents of any message with the information we have gathered about user activity displayed next to each individual link. This allows you to clearly see what content drives your users to click. Each highlighted link shows total clicks, total click ratio, unique clicks, and unique click ratio per link in a simple, easy-to-read pop up with just a click.
This tool enables you to refine your messages by letting you quickly differentiate your individual click performance link by link. You can see what subscribers interact with and then cater your content to inspire more subscribers to interact with your messages.
How Duplicate Links Appear in Click Overlay
-
Same destination, multiple placements: If you add the same URL more than once in a message (e.g., a button at the top and a text link at the bottom), Click Overlay will list each placement as a separate row.
-
Clicks are not duplicated: Each row represents the clicks on that specific placement, so the numbers may look split across rows.
-
Where to see overall totals: Use the Stats Overview (message-level metrics) to see the combined total click count. Click Overlay is designed for per-link/placement drill-down, so multiple rows for the same destination are expected.
To view all tracking details for an email send, follow these steps:
- Click the Reports Folder
- Click Email Tracking
- Highlight the email campaign you're seeking
- Click the View Click Overlay button
Putting it all together:
The Click Overlay report is best used for understanding where in your message subscribers are engaging, while the Stats Overview gives you the total engagement at the message level. Use them side by side: Overlay for placement insights, and Stats Overview for campaign-level performance.
