Dynamic lists are very powerful tools and are a highlight of Critical Impact. Sometimes, you may notice that after adding a new subscriber, either manually or through an import, that your dynamic list count doesn't show the added subscriber although you are certain that subscriber would be included in that rule set.
Dynamic lists are a powerful tool that must be used at the right time, so these lists are updated when they are needed. This can be done in a handful of ways:
- Most importantly, your dynamic lists update every time you use them to send a message. At the time the send is created, the dynamic list is created as a snapshot and that count is used for the send and will be updated in the list grid view
- Keep in mind that if you are scheduling a send for a future date, the send will reflect the dynamic list at the time the send was created Your final send preview screen will show you the total estimated send size before you confirm the send details. The list grid view will be updated both when the send is scheduled and when the send is recalculated to go out.
- Whenever you update your rules for the dynamic list. Whether you are changing the rules or just taking a peak at the rule set you have in place, if you click either the "Save" or "Save & Show List Count" button, your dynamic list will automatically update the list count.
- When you manually update the list. Navigate to Subscribers & Lists > Lists on the navigation panel, select the dynamic list that you would like to update the count for, click the "Utilities" button and select "Update Count" from the drop-down. Critical Impact will then process the dynamic list rules and update the list count accordingly.
The dynamic list also updates the list information when you view the list by clicking "View List" in the Lists screen, but will not update the grid view. This will provide an accurate and current list of subscribers, although the grid view of the lists will still show a previous count until updated in one of the previously mentioned methods.
