Some custom reports with large amounts of data can take a few minutes to run. If you are using Firefox as a web browser and received a timeout issue message after 5 minutes of waiting for the report to run, the issue is most likely with the Firefox timeout settings.
There is a new FireFox timeout setting called ‘network.http.response.timeout’, which was introduced in Firefox 29. The default value for this timeout is 5 minutes (300 seconds). In previous versions of Firefox there was no default value. After changing this timeout setting to a longer value, the reporting should work without timing out.
- To change this setting, simply type about:config into the Firefox browser address bar and hit enter
- Click "I'll be careful, I promise!" to confirm that you will be careful when changing the advanced settings
- You will see a page with all of the configurable settings. Search for ‘network.http.response.timeout‘ to isolate just the one setting you need to change
- The default value is 300 seconds (5 minutes). If you are running into the situation where your reports are not coming back with data and you are using Firefox as a browser, you will need to increase this number. Click OK
