Common DKIM Issues
DKIM Record Syntax
In general, a DKIM record is defined using a type of TXT record.
Example of a DKIM Record HOST name for the domain: cisend50.com
ci-cisend50._domainkey
The HOST name is comprised of two parts:
- Domain Name: cisend50.com
- Selector: ci-cisend50
Example of a DKIM Record HOST name for the subdomain: test59.cisend50.com
ci-test59-cisend50._domainkey.test59
The HOST name is comprised of two parts:
- Domain Name: test59.cisend50.com
- Selector: ci-test59-cisend50

HOST name (missing or incorrect value)
DKIM records use a unique selector for each domain. It is important that the HOST name for the DKIM record uses the required HOST name in the generated instructions.
Having an "@" symbol or the domain itself as the HOST name will result in an error during DKIM authentication.
Having an empty or invalid HOST name will result in an error during DKIM authentication.
TXT Value (full string, no spaces)
The DKIM record content value should start with "k=rsa; p=" followed by a unique key that cannot have any spaces. Having a space in the key string will result in an error during DKIM authentication.
For example, in the DKIM record below, there are several spaces in the key string. This will result in an error during DKIM authentication:
k=rsa; p=MIGfMA0GCS qGSIb3DQEBAQUAA4G NADCBiQKBgQCtWx7CSU7X sLyIcU77X7/MU 9U+WOED0Vf8 7lFHeruWW rBvPkEn9qE/ puJfLRhkA9kBUUIHBYX/ay8t35Kdz04TZpNOi e9hThYI4D/UKcQoLSzr ojnoG/izlyhVXOc U1peMoMfCtjK8RDR jQIDAQAB
Unique Per Domain (attempting to reuse DKIM)
Our DKIM records are unique to each domain. You cannot reuse the same DKIM record values for other domains. Reusing the same DKIM across multiple domains will result in an error during DKIM authentication.
